Your references, properly cited.

Benecaster already keeps a reference library for each show: recommend the same book in three episodes and it is one reference, attached to all three, and changing its link updates every episode. Show Notes Bibliography turns that library into a real bibliography — typed entries with authors and publishers, affiliate disclosure, display styles, and a usage report across your catalog.

Reference types: Book, article / web page, video, tool / product, episode (links to another Benecaster episode), and a freeform Other type for anything that doesn’t fit a category.

Episode attachment: Add references from a search panel in the Benecaster episode editor. Search your existing reference library by title, type, or tag, or create a new reference inline. Drag to reorder within the episode.

Affiliate link handling: Mark any reference as an affiliate link. When an episode contains at least one affiliate-marked reference, a disclosure statement is automatically included — above the list, below it, or inline with each affiliate reference. The disclosure text is configurable per show. A sensible default is pre-filled; edit it to match your voice or legal requirements.

Output: References append to the episode’s show notes automatically, or render via [benecaster_references] shortcode if you prefer to control placement. Three display styles: list (default), compact inline, and card grid. Section label is configurable — “References”, “Further Reading”, “Links”, or whatever you use. Full template override available for complete markup control.

Archive page: Give listeners one place to browse everything you’ve recommended — every book, tool and link across the catalog, grouped by type, each with the episodes that mention it. One click in the add-on’s settings creates the page, or place [benecaster_reference_archive] wherever you like. Listeners only see references from episodes they can play, unless you choose to show locked episodes too, and a long list splits into pages.

Usage report: A summary panel shows each reference with its usage count and the episodes it appears in — useful for auditing affiliate links across your catalog and finding references that were created but never attached.

Even More Powerful With

  • Outlinks — your bibliography links become tracked links. Every reference Outlinks tracks shows as a clean yoursite.com/go/ link, every click is attributed to the episode it came from, and changing a destination in Outlinks updates every episode’s bibliography at once.
